Marshall & Sterling, Inc. is a full service insurance agency headquartered in the City of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. with a total of 14 offices in New York State – located in Carmel, Glenville, Hoosick Falls, Leeds, Middletown, Millbrook, Monticello, New Windsor, Poughkeepsie, Rochester, Saratoga Springs, Syracuse, Wappingers Falls and Yorktown Heights - and four offices in the United States Virgin Islands – St. Thomas, St. John and two offices on St. Croix. We have concentrated our efforts in specific geographic territories which allow us to focus on the needs of our clients within these territories and the insurance market best suited to meet those needs.
Marshall & Sterling provides a full line of Property & Casualty insurance products, Group Life and Health Plans, Fiduciary and Fidelity bonds as well as self insurance administration and loss control services to our clients. Our customer base includes public and private institutions of higher education, health care facilities, armored car services, municipalities, general contractors as well as specialty trade contractors, public transportation risks, and personal protection for local households.
Our history can be traced back to 1864 and since that time we have achieved national status while remaining closely tied to the real communities we serve. Currently ranked the 22nd largest privately held insurance broker in the United States, and 45th largest overall, we bring to our local clients a national presence when negotiating with insurance carriers. Representing over 200 carriers and maintaining a block of business at Lloyds of London, our 375 insurance specialists offer a unique blend of local expertise and global insight, writing over $400 million in insurance premiums each year.

Experience and a broad overview of market conditions over time, gives our organization an expanded perspective. Our Chairman has 50 years of experience in the industry all with Marshall & Sterling, our President has been with the firm for 25 years, our Vice Presidents, involved with insurance operations, all have experience greater than 25 years and 8 out of 10 have experience greater than 30 years in the industry.
